Hermit Pass Marathon, Half Hermit and Lucky Hermit 13K

• Hermit Pass Marathon:- Trail Run 26.2 Miles, up to 13,060 ft
• Half Hermit:- Trail Run 13.1 Miles, up to 10,350 ft.
• Lucky Hermit 13K:- 13 K on graded gravel county roads, up to 9000 ft

Our second event, join us for a great challenge of running at high altitude. All runs start at 7989 ft. at A Painted View Ranch on the floor of the beautiful Wet Mountain Valley on the east side of Colorado's Sangre de Cristo Mountains west of Pueblo. The marathon route goes up to the top of Hermit Pass at 13,060ft., the Half Hermit turns around at about 10, 350ft. and the Lucky Hermit 13K runs a loop route on the valley floor gaining about 1000 ft elevation and providing sweeping views of the Valley and the Wet Mountains.

The marathon route is rough, rugged and rocky, suitable for seasoned, well trained runners. This is not for novice marathon runners. The Half Hermit route will be rough and rocky for the last mile or so before the turn around, but the rest will be on relatively civil 4WD Forest Service and county road. The Lucky Hermit 13 K is an easy run on graded gravel roads.

From Denver, Colorado Springs: go south on 1-25 to the Academy exit at the south side of Colorado Springs. Go west on Academy and then turn south on Hwy 115 towards Penrose/Canon City. Stay on Hwy 115 to Florence, and turn south on Hwy 67 to Wetmore. At Wetmore go west on Hwy 96 to the town of Westcliffe. Turn left on Hwy 69 at the Antlers Liquor Store and go about 1 mile, then turn west (right) on Hermit Road. Follow Hermit Road to A Painted View Ranch (just after the road becomes dirt, on the right). 

From Pueblo: go west on Thatcher Rd/Hwy 96 to Wetmore, then follow above directions

From Walsenburg/Trinidad: turn off of I-25 on to Hwy 69, and go almost in to Westcliffe, turn left on Hermit Road at the Shell gas station. Follow Hermit Road to the ranch

From Salida: take Hwy 50 to Cotopaxi, and take CR 1A to Hwy 69, turn right towards Westcliffe. Follow Hwy 69 through town and turn south at the Antlers Liquor Store, then right on Hermit Road at the Shell station. Follow Hermit Rd to the ranch. 

Proceeds from this event go to benefit Club America WMV, a nonprofit community owned and operated aquatics and fitness center. They provide free swim lessons to all county 4th, 5th and 6th graders, a triathlon for those grades, discounted programs for Seniors and vets. Help promote fitness for all in rural Colorado.
