The 2016 Remarkable River Racing Series will consist of 3 events:
-a 5K race on February 28 - (Sunday)
-a 10K race on June 12 - (Sunday)
-a 15K race on September 25 - (Sunday)
The Remarkable River Racing Series is organized by Building Remarkable Communities, Inc., a non-profit corporation (501(c)3 status pending) whose mission is the eradication of domestic and family violence in our communities through the distribution of educational materials and programs, training, and funding to agencies working with survivors and their children.
Our efforts are not bound by traditional bureaucratic red tape, allowing us to use out-of-the-box solutions to rid our communities of this insidious problem.
Building Remarkable Communities, Inc. was born from an initiative created by Deb Cheslow and the Cheslow Achievement Group of Port Orange, FL.
Domestic and family violence programs are experiencing funding cuts or reductions from multiple sources. In a recent survey, nearly 80% of states reported that their programs were experiencing a reduction in funding. While at the same time, 88% of the programs across the country are seeing an increase in demand for services, creating an unconscionable gap in services for those who need them.
Upon learning that 75% of the company’s executive team had been personally affected by domestic violence, Cheslow Achievement Group went to work and embraced this challenge, understanding if they were not part of solution, then we were, in effect, adding to the problem by ignoring it. To date, we have donated over $200,000.00 in products and services to build remarkable communities right here in Central Florida.
Partnering WITH local communities, Building Remarkable Communities, Inc. challenges corporations, small businesses, organizations, teams, and individuals do step up and do the same.
The Remarkable River Racing Series is a fun, health-focused means of raising funds for this serious mission.
Course Info
The certified (pending) 3.1 mile 5K course is an out and back route that starts in front of behind Aunt Catfish’s on the River and proceeds south on Halifax/Riverside Drive to the intersection of Riverside and Harbor Point Drive where runners turn around, run back north on Riverside/Halifax Drive and finish at the “barn” by Aunt Catfish’s administrative offices.
