Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin. Just to survive, people with T1D must frequently test their blood sugar and inject insulin (or continually infuse it through a pump) every day. T1D strikes both children and adults but has a particularly high concentration in the youth population of Guilford County.
Net proceeds from the 5K and 1 mile walk will benefit JDRF in its effort to help impacted individuals and families. While the ultimate goal is a cure for T1D, JDRF dedicates resources to an ongoing stream of life-changing therapies and support groups that help the many people in our area manage this lifelong disease.
