The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Sprint & Olympic Triathlons and 5k & 10k to benefit Kids in Crisis will take place Sunday, June 12, 2016. This race weekend raises money for children struggling with abuse and neglect by supporting Kids in Crisis, Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock emergency shelter and crisis counseling center for infants, children, teens and their families.
On Sunday, June 12, the Olympic race begins with a 1.5k (.9 mile) swim in Long Island Sound at Cummings Beach in Stamford, segues into a 40k (24.8 mile) bike ride from the shore, through the heart of the downtown business district and up into scenic North Stamford, and finishes with a 10k (6.2 mile) run through the streets of downtown Stamford.
The Sprint race is comprised of a 0.8k (0.5 mile) swim, 22k (13.9 mile) bike, and 5.1k (3.2 mile) run, contested on shortened sections of the Olympic course. It is the perfect race for the beginner triathlete, or seasoned racer looking for a speedy time!
The Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5k and 10k run returns this year, and will again take place along the triathlons' respective run courses - and run as standalone road races with their very own start times!
