In 2014, three local organizations—Shenandoah Valley Academy,Shenandoah Valley Adventist Elementary, and the New Market Seventh-day Adventist Church—came together to give back to their community. They held their first “Run For Rescue,” a 5K and 10K cross-country fundraising run on their common campus.
The event was held in mid-October. In spite of the cold and rain the 140+ runners experienced that day, over $3,700 was raised to benefit the New Market Fire & Rescue Department.
This year, we are working with the Heritage Days Committee to hold the event during New Market Heritage Days weekend. Our goal is to raise funds for the New Market Fire & Rescue Department, and to do so this time in collaboration with our town leaders and other citizens.
