The Flaughless 5K is held in memory of our good friend Dan Flaugh, a lifelong Vinton resident and former US Army soldier who served in Baghdad, Iraq. After returning from Iraq, Dan struggled with PTSD and took his own life in December 2011 at the age of 25.
The Flaughless 5K was started by Dan's friends and family in 2012 as a memorial to Dan and a tribute to all soldiers struggling with the mental and physical damages of war. The proceeds from this year's 5th Annual Flaughless 5K will benefit Retrieving Freedom, Inc., a local nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for veterans.
Disposable chip timing will be available.
The Flaughless 5K will go on rain or shine.
The Run Route is 3.1 miles, and the Walk Route is 2.4 miles.
The run/walk will be held at Riverside Park in Vinton, IA. Parking around Riverside Park is limited, and we recommend finding a spot along the residential side streets.
