3rd Annual Alie Reichling Memorial 5K River Walk or Run...

• 5K Run/Walk:- Run 3.1 Miles

The family of Alie Reichling has established a scholarship in her name after her untimely passing on March 15th, 2014 due to complications from routine surgery at Johns Hopkins.  She was just 24 years old.  The Alie Reichling Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded at her alma mater, Virginia Tech, to be awarded to a student that best embdies the same exceptional qualities as Alie.  

Alie's laugh and charismatic personality lit up every room and she was dedicated to her school, community, family and friends.  Her coordination of touching events surch as nursing home dances with fellow students left a lasting impression on all involved.  She was deeply engaged with the Actively Caring for People organization and her life was devoted to helping others. 

Alie made a lasting impact on everyone she ever met and pushed others to be the "good" in the world.  She loved to make people happy and she put her whole heart into everything she did. Alie shared God's love which shined through her love for life.  Being a part of Alie's life was a wonderful blessing.  Anyone who ever met Alie is better person for having known her.  Her passion for God, life, family and friends is a great model of how we should all live.  Alie's spirit will never be forgotten, she will always live on in our hearts. 

We've had a successful two years raising money towards Alie's scholarship!  Here's to another great year of celebrating Alie and staying active! 

Health and exercise were extremely important to Alie.  Remembering vacations with Alie, she would be the last one to go to bed and the first one up to run the beach in the morning.  Even days of relaxing in the pool, she would be doing jumping jacks in the pool.  Staying active was important to Alie so what better way to celebrate her life than a 5K.  Let's walk or run in honor of Alie.  Let's make her proud. 

The 3rd Annual Alie Reichling Memorial 5K will be held at Heritage Trail/Canal Path Loop in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Saturday, 17 September 2016.  Parking is located at Old Mill Park, Fredericksburg, VA.   There are retrooms available.  Proceeds from this event will go towards the Alie Reichling Memorial Scholarship Fund.  

Registration for both events is open to everyone!  This is a family friendly event and we welcome participants and spectators for a day of fun!  There is a playground for the kids! 

5K Run or Walk will start at 9:00 am.  Refreshments will be provided before and after the 5K. 

****Online registration by Wednesday, August 31st guarantees a t-shirt and goodie bag.  However there will be onsite registration for the 5K walk or run.  Onsite registration for the 5K is $35 (limited numbr of t-shirts and goodie bags will be available at onsite registration, sizes not guaranteed)****

Packet Pick Up:  Race day, Saturday, 17 September 2016 from 8:00 to 8:40 am. 

***Raffle Prizes will be drawn after the 5K.  1 ticket/$5; 5  tickets/$20.***

Legal information that is important:  I know that running a race is a potentially hazardous activity.  I should not participate unless I am medically able and properly trained.  I agree to abide by all decisions of race officials relative to my ability to complete the race safely.  I assume all risk associated with participating in this event, including but limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, traffic and the condition of the course, all risks being known and appreciated by me.  Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release officials, family members of Alie Reichling, the Alie Reichling Memorial Schoarlship Fund, all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims on liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event.  In addition, I understand that if the race is cancelled by circumstances beyond the control of the organization, my fee will not be refunded.
