About This Activity

Help protect African wildlife! African elephants, rhinos, lions, and cheetahs are on the brink of extinction. Please join our fun, family-friendly and educational event to help fund conservation and anti-poaching efforts. All race proceeds will be donated to the following organizations:

• Wildlife Protection Solutions
• The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
• National Geographic’s Big Cat Initiative
• Fundimvelo Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage

Help ensure that these iconic and charismatic animals are preserved for generations to come. Your children and grandchildren will thank you!!

Event details and schedule

T-Shirt and Goodie Bags will be available for pickup on race day.

To guarantee shirt size, please register no later than June 1, 2016. We cannot guarantee shirt sizes after that date.

Directions and Parking:

Campus Address: 3333 Regis Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80221

From I-25 North or South

Take I-70 West and exit on Federal Boulevard
Turn right (north) on Federal Boulevard
Turn left (west) on 50th Avenue (Regis Boulevard)
Turn right (north) into Entrance #1 (just past the soccer fields)

From West of Denver

Take I-70 East and exit on Federal Boulevard
Turn left (north) on Federal Boulevard
Turn left (west) on 50th Avenue (Regis Boulevard)
Turn right (north) into Entrance #1 (just past the soccer fields)

For visitor parking: use Lot 1 West (directly across from Lot 1 East) or Lot 6. To get to parking Lot 6, exit Entrance #1 by turning left onto W. 50th Ave. (Regis Boulevard), pass the soccer fields on your left, and then turn left into Lot 6. Parking Lot 6 is located on the corner of Federal Boulevard and W. 50th Ave. (Regis Boulevard).

Race Day Parking

Parking is provided courtesy of Regis University. Parking fees are waived on race day. Please visit our website for parking map. 

Race Day Check-In and Same-Day Registration

5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run Start time: 8:15 a.m.

Registration and check-in (to pick up t-shirts, goodies bags, and bib/chips) begins at 7:15 a.m. and ends at 8:00 a.m. Please bring your ID.

Online Registration ends at 12:00 a.m. on June 24, 2016. Registrations after that time must be done on race day.

Race Route

Both races will begin and end in front of the library in Boettcher Commons (the Quad) at Regis University. The race will go through part of the Regis campus and then go North onto Lowell Blvd. The 5K race will continue into the Clear Creek Trail. Both courses double back and end at the starting point. (See map for more specific route details). 

Post-Race Events

Bring the whole family and join us in Boettcher Commons (the Quad) after the race for food and fun!  

5K Award Ceremony will begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female winners. You must be present to claim the award - no exceptions.

Race Management

Running Wild is proud to partner with Colorado Race Timing to manage the timing of the 1st annual Running Wild event. Our 5K race is a chip-timed event and is USATF-Certified.

Awards Ceremony

The award ceremony will begin at approximately 9 a.m. You must be present to claim award - no exceptions. Awards will be granted to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, male and female, in the 5K race only.

Weather

Our event will take place rain or shine. In the event of lightening, we will postpone event until the threat of danger has passed. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and the event.
