Description

Battle Run: Princesses vs. Monsters will kick-off from beautiful Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater. 5K participants will either register as a ‘Princess/Prince’ or ‘Monster’, then start their un-timed course together, bolting up the Memorial Causeway Bridge before the two groups engage in an epic battle to the finish line. All 5K runners will receive a custom 2016 Battle Run finisher medal. 1 mile participants will enjoy a more relaxed course along the waterfront and in downtown Clearwater, ideal for new runners, walkers, families, and pets. All registered runners will receive a Battle Run 2016 t-shirt along with a goody bag and Battle Run packet. The event also includes a post-race expo with 15+ interactive vendors, fun surprises along the route, music, and complimentary food and drinks for runners along the course and at the finish line. Costume categories and prizes will be announced soon! 100% of proceeds will benefit Pinellas County children through the services of local 501(c)(3) non-profit Directions for Living.

How do I get to Coachman Park?

Coachman Park is located on the waterfront in downtown Clearwater and is accessible from Drew Street or via Cleveland Street (State Road 60).

FROM TAMPA:

  • Take SR 60 to Clearwater
  • Follow SR 60/Gulf to Bay Boulevard through downtown Clearwater
  • Make a right at Osceola Avenue
  • The park is on the left

FROM ST PETERSBURG:

  • Take US Highway 19 to SR 60
  • Head West on SR 60
  • Follow SR 60/Gulf to Bay Boulevard through downtown Clearwater
  • Make a right at Osceola Avenue
  • The park is on the left

Where should I park?

There is plenty of free parking at Coachman Park, plus multiple lots in downtown Clearwater for you to choose from. If you arrive to Coachman Park after 7:20am, Drew St. will be closed for the safety of our runners and you will have to park in one of the lots in downtown.

What will happen on the morning of the Battle Run?

6:45am: Race day registration/packet pickup/check-in opens

7:25am: Proceed to starting line

7:30am: 5k Start! 

7:35am: 1mi start!

7:30am-10am: Celebration and race expo

How much does it cost? What is included in my Battle Run registration?

Now until September 1, 2016:           5K: $30  //  1M: $15

September 2-October 26, 2016:         5K: $35  //  1M: $20

October 29, 2016                            5K: $40  //  1M: $25

All registered runners will receive a 2016 Battle Run race t-shirt* along with a goody bag, Battle Run packet, and raffle ticket for exciting race-day prizes. 5K runners will receive a custom 2016 Battle Run finisher medal. All runners will also enjoy a post-race expo with 15+ interactive vendors, fun surprises along the route, music, and complimentary food and drinks along the course and at the finish line.

*Although we will try our best to accomodate everyone, your preferred t-shirt size is not guaranteed.

When does online registration end?

Online registration for the Battle Run: Princesses vs. Monsters will end at 11:59pm on October 26, 2016.  

May I register for the race after online registration ends?

You may register in person from 6:30-7:00am on the morning of the event at the Registration tent. We will be taking credit cards, cash, and checks as forms of payment. You will not be guaranteed a race t-shirt or finisher medal. Our extra t-shirts, medals, and goody bags will go to first come, first served, so get there early!

Can I transfer my registration to another participant?

Yes, you can until October 26, 2016. Active.com charges a $5 fee to transfer your registration.

Is there a registration limit?

Registration is limited to the first 1,000 runners, so sign up early!

Is there an age limit for younger runners?
There are no age limits, but please use your best judgment based on the difficulty and length of the course. We recommend that young and inexperienced runners stick to the one mile route. Although we will do everything we can to make sure you and your little ones are safe on your run/walk, please keep in mind that you will be running on a bridge next to a busy road if you choose the 5K.

Can I run with a jogging stroller and my kids?
Sure! But, please be courteous to other runners and start toward the back of the start line. All kiddos 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge and do not need to register! Unregistered children do not get a t-shirt and race packet, but will be met with a plastic medal at the finish line!

Can I run with my dog?
Please choose the more relaxed 1-mile course if you wish to bring your pet to the race, for the safety of your fellow runners/walkers. 

Will the road be closed during the race?

Is the race chip-timed?

The Battle Run: Princesses vs. Monsters is an un-timed fun run! If you are interested in competing for the Fastest Princess/Prince or Fastest Monster title, we encourage you to begin the race at the front of the start line.

Will there be any support along the course?

The course will be clearly marked with signs and stationed with volunteers, law enforcement, and water stations for the safety and support of our runners.

Will there be food/beverages at the finish line?

Of course! Refreshments will include sports drinks, water, and post-race meal for all runners.

BEFORE THE RACE

Is there a packet pick up for the event?

Yes. All participants can pick up their t-shirts and race packets before race day. Check back for packet pick-up info!

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes. Make sure to send them with a printed or electronic copy of your confirmation email.

Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we can’t issue refunds. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, at least stop by and pick up your Battle Run packet and t-shirt from us!

AWARDS AND CONTESTS

Will there be race awards given out?

We will be rewarding the Fastest Princess/Prince and Fastest Monster with an awesome prize! All 5K participants will also be awarded a custom 2016 Battle Run medal and all of our Battle Run kiddos 10 and under will get a fun, plastic medal at the finish line!

What’s the costume contest?

We encourage you to get creative and commit to your princess/prince or monster alter-ego for a chance at some awesome prizes! Check back in for costume contest categories and rules.

What are the prizes and when will they be awarded?

Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded onstage at Coachman Park at 8:30am. Please check back in as we get closer to race day for all prize announcements.

Are costumes mandatory?

No, costumes are not mandatory, but they are encouraged! It’s almost Halloween, after all!

Are there any costume restrictions?

There are no costume restrictions for judging, but you may be asked to leave any items behind that may be dangerous to your fellow runners. 5K participants will be running up the narrow helix to reach the Memorial Causeway, so keep that in mind as you plan your outfit!

Who is this race benefitting?

100% of Battle Run’s proceeds will go directly to the children and family services of Directions for Living, a local 501(c)(3) not-for-profit focused on preventing and healing trauma – particularly those related to the child welfare system, homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse.
