Race for Rieg 5K

• 5K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

 This is the second year for Race for Rieg 5K! We are a school that serves only special needs students. We are committed to giving our students the best experiences possible including the opportunity to participate in community events, like this annual 5K.

By participating in our race, you will help us achieve our goals of raising awareness and funds for our students and to increase community partnerships with our school.

Event details and schedule

Race Information

Race for Rieg 5K will begin promptly at 9:00am. The start/finish line is located at our school, C. Elizabeth Rieg (15542 Peach Walker Drive Bowie, MD 20716) and it loops through the neighborhood. You will have two hours to complete the course. The course will close promptly at 11:00am. 

This is a family friendly event, participants of all ages and abilities are welcomed! Strollers, wheelchairs and pets (on a leash) are allowed on the course. 

Our course is an official USATF certified course.

Race Day Schedule

9:00am--Start of race and start of post-race festival 

11:00am--Close of race course

11:15am or as soon as the last person crosses the finish line--Awards Ceremony at the front of the school

12:00pm End of post-race festival

Post-Race Festival

There will be a post-race festival in the start/finish line area that will take place from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Volunteers

Want to participate in Race for Rieg 5K in another capacity? We are looking for volunteers to man our post-race festival stations, to keep our race course safe and to cheer on the runners/walkers. This is a perfect opportunity for high school students or others interested in obtaining community hours and to give back to the community. Interested in volunteering? Parking

There is free street parking available. Please do not park in the school parking lot as it is part of the race course. Give yourself 10-15 minutes to park and walk to the start line.

Weather/Extreme Condition Cancellation Right

Our race will take place rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel the race and/or the post-race festival in the case of severe weather or other extreme occurence. In the event of this extreme outcome, we cannot refund any registration fees. We take the safety of all participants very seriously and will cancel in the event that safety is compromised.

I understand that by participating in Race for Rieg 5K, I hereby discharge C. Elizabeth Rieg Regional School, C. Elizabeth Rieg PTO, Prince George’s County Public Schools, Ainsley’s Angels, the event site, their management, their officers, board members, employees, members, sponsors, volunteers, organizers or their representatives, or their successors and all cooperating businesses and organizations from all claims of damage, demands, actions, illnesses, death and causes whatsoever in any matter arising from or growing out of my participation in the event. I attest and verify that I am medically able to participate and assume all risks of participation in this event.

We cannot guarantee that you and/or your student will not be photographed and/or video recorded at this event. Please be aware that we cannot be held liable for any photographs and/or video recordings that are taken at our event. By participating in this community event, you consent to any video and/or photographs that are taken of you and anyone that accompanies you. We welcome the media and press coverage at Race for Rieg 5K. Coverage of our event will support our race and will serve to increase awareness of special education and C. Elizabeth Rieg.
