Description

The City of Caribou, Maine, is noted for being the most Northeastern City in the United States. As such, Caribou is a recreational tourist destination during the year for winter sports, summer beauty, fall leaf peeping, and benefits from its close proximity to Maine’s northern wilderness for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports. Caribou’s industrial and farming businesses are an essential part of the region’s economic heritage.

The City has been working to promote economic and tourism growth, encouraging events and businesses to establish themselves in Caribou. In addition, the City works to create engaging community events which are a regional draw and bring residents closer together locally, regionally, and internationally, as the Canadian boarder is within minutes from Caribou.

The Most Northeastern Marathon in the United States and Maine’s newest USATF Certified Marathon, the Caribou Marathon (USATF Certified ME15009JK).

The 13.1 course starts at the Caribou Wellness Center and runs through beautiful neighborhoods before heading out onto back country roads with gorgeous scenery. With the race course winding along the beautiful Aroostook County back roads before heading back through town, the Caribou Marathon race course has one of the most beautiful backdrops in New England. Runners will finish back at the Caribou Wellness Center. The course is rolling terrain on paved roads. Full Marathon runners will make two loops.
