Maine Doulas' Presents No Child Wet Behind 5k and Diaper Drive

A fun day for the whole family, while supporting a non-profit and local families in need. 

Our Portland community will join with events in 29 other states, on May 21, 2016 to bring awareness to an important issue effecting families locally. Diapers will be donated to The Opportunity Alliance and will be distributed to families in need in Southern Maine.

Did you know....
- 1 in 3 families report a need for diapers.
- On average an adequate supply of diapers cost more than $100 a month, over $3,600 to diaper just one child for three years.
- There is no government funded program that provides diapers to families in need.

The 5k will kick off the events, followed by a 1 mile family fun run and stroller parade. Prizes for the best decorated stroller. Bring a case of diapers for a chance to win a raffle prize!

Event details and schedule

The 5K begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21. The start is at Back Cove Park, across from Hannaford. The route circles the cove and finishes back at the park. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. near the race start, with same-day registration available at a cost of $25.00. There is no advance packet pickup.

The 1 mile Fun Run is for families and children under 10 and will follow the 5K at 9:00 a.m. Included in the fun run is a stroller parade. Come with your stroller vibrantly decorated for a chance to win a prize! Same day registration for the fun run/stroller parade will be available at the cost of $10.

Parking is available in the Back Cove lot. Strollers are permitted, and encouraged for the stroller parade! Please leave your pets at home.

And remember, this is a fundraiser to collect diapers for local families! Bring a pack of diapers to receive a raffle ticket and show your support.
