On Saturday, August 20, 2016, the 11th Annual Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial 5K Run Presented by Blue Heron Days will take place at the Lino Lakes City Offices and YMCA. With a variety of activities for families and races for all ages, this event will honor Shawn's legacy and pay tribute to the community.
This run is to commemorate Lino Lakes Police Officer Shawn Silvera, who was killed in the line of duty on September 6, 2005, leaving behind a wife and two young children.

Shawn was charitable, living his short life of 32 years in service to others with integrity, devotion, character, compassion and strength. He embodied the powerful message carried by the words “BE HERE NOW – LIVE THE IMPORTANCE OF TODAY” - savoring daily moments, relishing opportunities to learn and appreciating his gift to help someone in need. It is for these reasons that we honor Shawn with this event.
Participants receive a commemorative Performance t-shirt and a goody bag.
This event is sponsored by the Chain of Lakes Rotarians, SMW Federal Credit Union and the City of Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation.

5K Timed Run - for all ages

Daisy Dash - 50 yard kids fun run for ages 1-10

YMCA Splash and Dash - This fun event is held in conjunction with the run events and takes place at the YMCA to promote healthy lifestyles and friendly competition. It is open to all kids ages 5-12.
Splash and Dash Age Divisions:
5-6 years: 50 yard swim, 1/3 mile run
7-9 years: 100 yard swim, 2/3 mile run
10-12 years: 150 yard swim, 1 1/3 mile run

Public Safety Team Challenge:
This is the 9th year of the Public Safety Team Challenge. The trophy currently resides with the 2014 champions from the New Brighton Department of Public Safety. To participate, register as an individual, and stop by the Public Safety Challenge registration table the morning of the run to register your team.
