Special Olympics provides year-around sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, and other Special Olympics athletes in the community.

This year’s event will begin at 7:45 am at the Hope Mills Town Hall, 5770 Rockfish Rd.

Do not forget: Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports program for people with intellectual disabilities.  Persons with intellectual disabilities involved in the Special Olympics of North Carolina participate as athletes, coaches, officials, speakers, staff, and volunteers.  They gain respect and acceptance through Special Olympics by having the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and share their unique talents with family, friends, and the community.  Fund raised from this event will support the Hope Mills Police Department final contribution to the Special Olympics Committee.
