1st Annual 5K for Kevin Run/Walk

• 5K:- Run 3.1 Miles

This will be the first Annual 5K for Kevin Memorial Run/Walk. It is being sponsored in cooperation with CASAColumbia.org. All monies raised will go towards funding research for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse and addiction.

This event is being held in memory of Kevin Zaug, our friend, our brother, our son.

Kevin was kind and funny. He enjoyed golf, music and fishing. He was adventurous, surfing beaches in Hawaii. Both athletic and talented, he was drafted by two Major League Baseball teams. In his short life he accomplished so much but he always remained humble. He was all about family, loving the simple things in life and we loved him. At age 34, Kevin lost his long struggle with addiction, a battle so many lose every day.

It's time we start looking at addiction as a legitimate illness, remove the stigma and shame, and change the way we perceive and treat this problem. Please join us in raising money to change the story of addiction and substance abuse.

Representatives from CASA Columbia will be on site for receipt of the donation.

Every pre-registered participant will receive a race t-shirt. After the race, we invite participants to stay and enjoy live musical entertainment, refreshments, fun filled raffles with wonderful prizes!

 Course Info

The 5K course both starts and finishes at the park. The paved course contains rolling hills throughout, making it perfect for a beginner or even experienced runner. There will be a one lane road closure for the race to ensure a safe and enjoyable run/walk for all. A water stop will be located at the half way point. Bathrooms will only be available at the the park (start & finish point). 

Awards

The Top 3 Overall Men and Women will receive medals.  In addition, the Top 3 in each gender/age division will receive medals. Divisions for men and women are: 11 & Under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Post Race Activities

We encourage you to stick around after the 5K Run/Walk for refreshments, live musical entertainment, and a raffles/prizes.

Electronic timing will be provided by BikeWay.

Parking

On-site parking is available.

 Race Day Pick Up & Registrations

Race day pick up and registrations will be available starting at 8:00 am. We highly recommend coming early to ensure the race doesn't start without you! We will be accepting cash or checks only for race day registrations.

We recommend coming prepared for the weather, rain or shine!
