2nd Annual Northeast Tennessee Veterans Ruck & Roll

• Half Marathon:- Run 13.1 Miles

The Warriors Canvas & Veterans Art Center was established in December of 2013 as a non-profit 501-c3 with the intent of providing therapeutic services to Veterans within the Tri-Cities. Every day, 22 Veterans commit suicide and our goal is to reduce this within our region to zero, by any means possible.  We Provide art classes, studio space (with all supplies absolutely free), Smart Recovery Addiction classes, AcuDetox, drum classes, Piano classes, Pottery classes, Physical Training classes, and Ruck Marching Sessions all free to any Veteran or family member that walks into our doors.  We also have a gallery that is strictly for Veterans to showcase their craft within the community.

 Physical exercise is a potent tool in managing post-trauma symptoms, depression, and anxiety, as well as other health issues.  It also provides support, camaraderie, and structure which was and is a vital component to a Veterans well-being. 

 Please join the Warrior’s Canvas & Veterans Art Center on November 5^th, 2015,  for the 2nd Annual Ruck & Roll to honor Veterans for their sacrifices, from past to present for our great nation. 

 This event will be held annually on the 1^st Saturday before Veterans Day. 

We anticipate this event to become one of our region’s premier outdoor challenges honoring our nation’s military Veterans of all services and eras.  You will want to honor this great endeavor by becoming a supporting our nation’s heroes.

All proceeds go to supporting Veterans getting the therapy they need at The Warriors Canvas & Veterans Art Center, and keeping this event going year after year.

Event details and schedule

This Event will be begin at the Johnson City/Washington County Veterans memorial at 0830.

Packet pick up, check in, and late entries will be Friday, November 4, 2016 from 1pm to 9pm at the Warriors Canvas & Veterans Art center, Located at 320 E Main St. Johnson City, TN 37601. Please bring waivers signed and ID. We will not take any late entries on race day since time is limited. 

Arrive at the Veterans Memorial no later than 0800 am. Parking will be along W Market St. and surrounding Kiwanis park, additional parking can be used in the adjacent neighborhood. 

Please wear something comforable and loose especially if you are marching. Utilize proper footwear for your specific event.

Bring a water source if you are a marcher. We will have stations along the course, but do not depend on this as your sole source of hydration. 

All Ruck sacks have to be secure, no debris from packs can be left on the course. If you leave any debris on the course from your pack you will be disqualified and asked to leave the course.

Marchers will have their packs wieghed dry (no water) and inspected to make sure they meet the requirments on the day of packet pickup. 

All Racers will begin their scheduled race at 0830 am, starting with Runners first and then marchers.

5k racers will have a set course beginning at the Memorial, around the VA Medical Center, and ending at the Memorial. Please see attached map

We will have roads blocked and a heavy police and volunteer presence to assist you on the course.

All Runner and Marchers should be completed by 12pm, if not you will be picked up and brought back to the memorial. 

We will have aid stations set-up at the Memorial for anyone needing assistance. 

Water Points will be located every along the course for runners and marchers.
