No Child Wet Behind 5k

It is with great excitement and pride that Doulas of Northern Virginia presents No Child Wet Behind 5k and Diaper Drive on May 21, 2016. Together with the DC Diaper Bank and our many supporters and partners, this community event aims to raise awareness and provide support to the countless families and their babies that are in need of clean, dry diapers.

1 in 3 families report a need for diapers.  With an average monthly cost of $100 and no government assisted programs to help, families are left to discover what limited public resources are available or make do with what they have. Babies are often left in dirty diapers for an extended period of time, leading to diaper rash, emotional distress, child abuse and even infanticide. 

Together we can make a difference. Our community will join 29 other states to bring awareness to an incredible need and the amazing non-profit organization No Child Wet Behind. Diapers and funds will be donated to the DC Diaper Bank and will be distributed to families in need throughout Northern VA and Washington, DC. Diaper donations are highly encouraged on race day! Please also consider running, volunteering, donating money, time, or goods for our raffle, becoming a vendor, or sponsoring this event. This is a family friendly event with competitive 5k race, 1 mile Fun Run, kid zone, music, food, boutique vendor section, and more.  We look forward to seeing you there!
