Travel Recommendations:
Run the Red Desert is a competitive trail race featuring half-marathon and marathon-length courses in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. This rugged race utilizes graveled county roads, dirt two-tracks, and other trail types and covers a diverse terrain including moderate to steep hills, rocky trails, sand dunes, drainages and meadows. Vehicular traffic, wildlife, and domestic animals may be present on the race course. Aid stations will be available with food and water at appropriate locations, however, it is highly recommended each participant supply themselves with the gear, food, and water necessary to complete the run. Weather conditions this time of year can be highly variable, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to mid-90s. Participants are encouraged to outfit themselves with the clothing and gear necessary to stay comfortable in changing conditions.
REFUND POLICY: If we are unable to hold the event due to weather, we will reschedule or provide free entry into next year's event. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. We will send an email alerting participants to any changes by Friday June 3rd at noon.
MOTOTRIZED VEHICLES ON COURSE: We discourage motorized vehicles on course, but there may be extenuating circumstances that require motorized vehicles, such as emergencies or aid station resupply.
DOGS ON COURSE: Dogs must be on leash at the start/finish area. Dogs are not required to be on leash on the course, but must be under control by verbal command. Please be courteous to other racers as well as the sensitive landscape and wildlife.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This race course is available through contractual agreements with private landowners and public land agencies; participants who utilize this course on days other than race day without permission from landowners may be liable for trespass.
