The Save A Heart 5K Run/Walk is a free event sponsored by the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County in recognition of World Heart Day. Heart disease and stroke are the world's leading causes of death and overweight and obesity are it's chief contributors. Healthy food choices and a lifestyle that includes regular physical activity are excellent ways to maintain a healthy weight and decrease the risk of developing heart disease, Type II Diabetes or stroke.
The second annual Save A Heart 5K Run/Walk will provide a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the health benefits of getting out and running, jogging or walking with others on a trail in one of Citrus Counties most beautiful parks. The event will be free, fun and offer participants refreshments and goodies to remember the day with.
The Whispering Pines 5K trail is a combination of flat, hills and turns on a path that runs through the woods. The trail will be fully marked with side trails blocked off. There will be water stations midway and at the end of the course.
Whispering Pines Park is located at: 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL 34450. Forest Drive is a right when traveling West on Rt 44 or a left when traveling East on Rt 44 in Citrus County, FL. Once you enter the park follow signs to parking and registration at the park pavilion.
