 - Lace up your sneakers and don your best red, white, and blue! Come run or walk with Chillicothe Civic Theatre through historic downtown Chillicothe, Ohio's first capital, and scenic Yoctangee Park on this Patriotic holiday weekend, and help support our home theatre project. Run or walk our 5K or enjoy the beautiful summer morning with the Sparkler Sprint 1-mile fun run/walk within the park. We’ll kick off the race with the singing of our National Anthem by a retired military veteran and the presentation of the colors, and will include spectacular sights such as volunteers assisting wheelchair-bound citizens in completing the Sparkler Sprint and and patriotic spectators celebrating our Nation’s independence. Several prizes will be awarded, including most patriotic costume and various door prizes.  This year's 5K event will be chip timed, which will ensure accurate racing results!  And stick around after the run/walk for lots of fun, family-friendly activities like awards for the top racers, a photo booth, temporary tattoos for the kids (of all ages!), music, food, and more! A little history...in December 2013, Chillicothe Civic Theatre purchased a building in downtown Chillicothe to be used as rehearsal and storage space and eventually a fully-operational 100-seat theatre. Since, we have undertaken the task of raising funds to transform our empty shell into a beautiful live theatre destination. We have solicited donations and held special events, including last year's inaugural Run, Walk & Boom, the Halloween Bash, and Gong-A-Rama, to name a few. We have obtained an easement from the City of Chillicothe to expand our lobby area, continued working with our architect on drawings, have obtained approvals and permits necessary to proceed with construction, and are currently advertising for bids on the initial phases of the project!!    (Check back often!  This description will update as we're nearly ready to begin construction!!) We are grateful to our sponsors and donors and to the community members who will participate or otherwise support this event.
