ILA believes in the transformative power of literacy, and at the ILA 2016 Conference & Exhibits in Boston, we’re taking this commitment to the next level—by hitting the streets at the Steps to Advance Literacy 5K!
We invite all literacy enthusiasts in the Boston area, as well as our ILA 2016 attendees, exhibitors, members, and sponsors to run or walk in our first annual 5K fun run on Sunday, July 10.Whether you call Boston home or are visiting for the conference, join us as we go the distance to advance literacy for everyone, everywhere.
Through our collective steps, we will help transform lives through literacy.
Hosting the Steps to Advance Literacy 5K is one of ILA’s many strides to further the cause of literacy at this year’s conference. Funds raised from this event will benefit ILA local and international literacy initiatives.
ILA is also working to advance literacy at the local level at the ILA 2016 Conference by collecting exhibitor book donations for the Boston chapter of Reach Out and Read. Reach Out and Read gives children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.
Join us as we run and walk in the footsteps of literary history at the scenic Boston Common. The Steps to Advance Literacy 5K is hosted entirely within the historic perimeter of the Boston Common, where celebrated author and Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson tended to his family's cows as a young child.

ILA attendees may pick up their race kits on Saturday, July 9, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Steps to Advance Literacy 5K booth in Hall A at the Hynes Convention Center. Public registrants also may collect their race kits at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center by checking in at the Conference Registration table and collecting a temporary pass to enter Hall A. Please note that everyone entering Hall A must have a credential.
