Description

Finish line: The finish line will kick-off a community party with entertainment for children, sponsor booths expo, live music, food and refreshments

Expected participation: 500 - 1000 runners, 1000 spectators, heavy media coverage and first responders.

Organization: Rise and Run 5K is one of the premiere events hosted by AdsitStrong.Org. The event will be executed by 3W race company to ensure a successful and organized event

Proceeds: All proceeds will go to AdsitStrong.Org. This foundation benefits injured first responders.  Officer Tony Lopez Jr will be one of the beneficiaries of this years Rise and Run 5k.  Donations and sponsorships are tax deductible. 

Audience: Media community, Law enforcement community, Professional athlete endorsements and participation, Athlete community, Denver Public Schools, Douglas County communities, Faith-based communities

Course Info

Location: start and finish line located at Foundry Church, in the heart of Douglas County. Conveniently located off of I-25 & Castle Pines Parkway in the King Soopers Parking Lot. The course contains clear paths with gentle hills situated to include breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains

Officer John Adsit was hit by a car on Dec. 3, 2014 while assisting other officers in escorting East High School students back to school during a protest. The event and John’s recovery have been highly publicized and covered by the media.

John suffered bone breaks in both shoulders. His left arm has 3 different plates in it holding his bones together. He has a broken finger and severed tendons in his left hand. The ribs on his right side were fractured and the ribs on his left side were crushed. He has a metal rib plate on his left side. His pelvic bone is cracked and his right femur was broken. The femoral artery in his left leg was severed, his lung was punctured, he had to have organs removed, he’s had numerous skin grafts and his vision is blurry. He has endured over 18 surgeries and will remain in long-term rehabilitation for the next several months.
On May 2 2015, Foundry Church in Castle Pines Colorado hosted the Rise and Run 5K to honor Denver Police Officer John Adsit. The run drew almost 1000 runners and was a huge success.  The support that the Adsit family received from the Rise and Run 5K was instrumental in John’s recovery. 
The Adsit Strong Foundation created by John Adsit benefits injured first responders.   As John Adsit progresses with his recovery he has been encouraged to pay it forward.  The Rise and Run 5K 2016 will be presented by Adsit Strong Foundation.  Sergeant Tony Lopez Jr of the Denver Police Department will be the honored beneficiary. Officer Adsit and Sergeant Lopez have worked together over the years, and Officer Adsit is excited to pay it forward and honor a fellow law enforcement officer
