Description

40th Annual Bluegrass 10,000 is certified 10,000 meters. Fifty percent shaded loop course, paved roads, flat, closed to traffic and well-marked. One loop out and back through the main business district and historical sections of Lexington. Seeded runners line up at the start according to average time per mile. Split times will be given at each mile marker.

Awards will be presented to the top 15 male and top female runners, and top male and female wheelchair and crank wheelchair finishers according to gun time. First place (only) in the above divisions will recieve a $500.00 cash prize. The top age division winners (exclusive of the top 15) will be awarded according to chip time.

Office is not open on weekends and will close on Thursday, June 30th at 6pm.

Registration & Fees

Entry forms will be available at Race Headquarters, the Herald Leader (100 Midland Ave.), the Downtown Lexington Corporation (333 W. Vine St #201) and John's Run and Walk shops. You can also register on line at active.com.

No registration or packet pick up will be available on race day. packets can be picked up at race Headquarters from June 1-June 30th.

Last chance registration and packet pick up will be held from 3-7pm on Sunday, July 3 at the Parks & Recreation Administration Offices (469 Parkway Drive) which is adjacent to the Gay Brewer Jr. Golf Course at Picadome.

The Bluegrass 10,000 is a footrace; however, wheelchair participants are welcome. Only those who run or walk may register. Wheelchair and crank participants are governed by NWAA sanctions. Children in strollers, roller skates, in-line skaters and skate-boarders may not register for the 10k run but are welcome to register for the one mile Fun Run. Sorry, no pets allowed in either race.


Parking & Restrooms

A map depicting available parking will be included in the packet. restrooms are located at the start area on East Main Street and past the finish line area by the old courthouse.

Medical Staff & Water/Aid Stations

Trained medical personnel and vehicles will be located along the course and at the finish area. there are seven water and/or First Aid stations located along the course and at the finish area.

Timing/Results

Finish timing will again be provided by Super Race Systems of New York. Visit them on-line at superracesystems.com.

The Chrono Track timing system will be used to score the 10k. ChronoTrack utilizes an RFID disposable tag(chip). The disposable timing tag comes attached to the bib but must be removed and placed on your shoe. The tag is not collected after the race.

The awards ceremony, announcing results, will be 10:00am in front of the Old courthouse on Main St. past the finish area.

Fun Run

The Fun Run is a one mile and will start on the corner of East Short and Deweese at 8:15am. Strollers, in-line skaters etc. are allowed (sorry, no pets). Door prizes will be given at the finish and entertainment for adults and children will be provided at the old courthouse plaza.
