Our 15th annual Firecracker races kick off our day long family celebration of our nation's birthday. New for 2016 is the addition of a second, more challenging 4 mile distance to compliment our traditional family friendly 4K race. Both races will be run on the beautiful Penn State University campus starting near the Bryce Jordan Center located on Curtin Road.  Following the races, relax and return  for an afternoon and evening of entertainment, parade, music, amusement rides, special events, and kids activities followed by our nationally recognized, one of the best in the nation, fireworks show.  

Event details and schedule

Two race distances for 2016 - 4K and 4 Mile.  Runners and walkers of all skill levels are welcome.  Day of race registration is available from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on the 4th.  Cash or personal checks only (Sorry no credit cards).  Preregistered participants can pick up race packets on the 4th from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the race event tent located in front of the Bryce Jordon Center on the Penn State campus.  Both races begin at 9:00AM.  A digital timing system will be used with prizes awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in 8 age categories for both distances.
