Facing It 5K

 - Mountain View Regional Hospital and The Facial Pain Association (FPA) are once again teaming up to raise awareness about Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN), a piercing facial pain that can affect the areas near the eyes, nose, lips, ears and teeth.  All community members are invited to support ongoing research for TN by participating in the Second Annual Facing It 5K event. 

Mountain View Regional Hospital wants to help pick up the pace in raising awareness about this rare, but serious medical condition. Often times the only relief from TN is neurosurgery. With so many people unaware of this condition, diagnosis is rare, it is often mistaken for oral health issues, and surgery almost never happens. TN is often referred to as the Suicide Disease as many people with TN attempt suicide because of the severe, life-debilitating pain. According to healthresearchfunding.org 1 in 15,000 to 20,000 people world-wide have TN. Raising awareness is important to give people who are suffering from TN a glimmer of hope. Please plan to come support this cause to help raise money and awareness for TN. All participants are encouraged to get their faces painted before the race. Racers will receive a free t-shirt and gift bags. Please plan to come support this cause to help raise money and awareness for TN.

Event details and schedule

• Mountain View Regional Hospital, 6550 East 2nd Street, Saturday, July 16, 2016.
• Pre-registration deadline: Friday, July 8
• Late Registration: July 9 – July 16 
• Face painting, Registration and check-in: 8 a.m.
• Race start time: 8:30 a.m. for walkers; 9 a.m. for runners

Route:

Everyone will start in the back parking lot at Mountain View Regional Hospital (6550 E 2^nd ).  Upon exiting parking lot, runners will go west on 2^nd, and turn right on Parkridge Drive (Foss Toyota Dealership).  At Mernard Dr, turn left and run parallel to Menards, then turn right on Coliseum Way, curving left onto Bentley Dr.  Runners will head towards 2nd street, turning left and heading east on 2nd street.  At Fremont Jeep, runners need to cross 2^nd Street and run down Coliseum Way towards Morado Dr.  Runners will follow Morado Dr. all the way around the residential area and back up to 2^nd Street.  Runners will cross 2^nd Street again and head east back towards Mountain View Regional, ending the race in the front parking lot of the hospital.
