Hell Creek on Heels Trail Run 5k and 25k...

• 5K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles

Trail running at its finest on Epic Singletrack! The race is conducted on the Switchgrass Trail in the Hell Creek Area of Wilson State Park. This trail was designated in 2012 as an Epic Trail by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).  It is composed of 24 miles of 100% singletrack.  

Multiple aid stations are available throughout the run course. Distances between aid stations and other crucial information is emailed to pre-registered participants. Water is available at the aid stations. It is preferred you bring hand held water bottles to help reduce waste. Assorted energy items are also available. Energy items may include fig newtons, hammer gel, Clif Shots, chewy granola bars, bananas, and random home made treats. Restrooms are only located at the Trailhead!

Directions: In central Kansas, on I-70, take Exit 206 N (Wilson), then drive north 5 mi on K-232, then west on Shoreline Dr ~1.5 mi to the park entrance on the right. Trail segments are visible crossing under the western end of the Hell Creek bridge.OR, from I-70, take Exit 199 N (Dorrance). Drive north 3 mi on 200th Road, then east 5 mi on 15th St. to the park entrance on the left.

Camping is available at Wilson State Park, both tent camping and full hookup. Hotels within 50 minutes of Wilson Lake are in Russell, Salina, Ellsworth, Hays, and Wilson.Restrooms and showers are located at the trailhead parking lot.

This is a fun event! I do not place emphasis on winning First, Second, Third… I want to encourage all people to attend Wild Within You events! Novice and experts alike, come on out and challenge yourself on the trail!

Event details and schedule

Registration opens at 6:30 am.

Racer meeting is at 7:15 am.

Race start is at 7:30 am for both the 5k and 25k!

25k runners will start first. 5k runners/walkers will start 3-4 minutes after the 25k event begins.
