The money raised from this event will go to Nationwide Children's Hospital c/o Kawasaki Disesase Research.
We want to bring awareness of Kawasaki Disease to our community. Our daughter, Briele, was diagonsed at age 3 1/2 months with the disease. She was misdiagnosed 6 times before getting the correct diagosis, only a few days too late. Studies show if diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease within the first 10 days lessens the chances of long term effects. Our daughter was diagnosed on day 12 and with that she is left with aneurysms on her right coronary artery and her right and left coronary arteries are enlarged. She had to take a half of baby aspirin daily to keep her blood thin.
Since this disease is rare the medical proessional werent familiar with Kawasaki Disease. Our daughter may have to live with the effects of the late diagosis for the rest of her life.
Signs and symptoms are fever lasting more than 5 days, red eyes, rash all over body, red lips and tongue, swollen and red hands and feet, peeling of hands and feet, swollen lymph nodes in neck.
