The 2nd Annual Tyler Hook Hillmer Glow In The Dark Trail Walk/Run. This event is in memory of Tyler Hook Hillmer who was a freshman at PPS. He lost his life in a car accident August 23, 2013. He was a happy, positive, easy-going guy with a smile that melted your heart. Tyler had a love for sports, video games, family & friends. He was known as one of the guys who could run "FAST". So we felt this would be perfect to do in his memory. We will kick the night off with a balloon release at 8 pm at the Rose Hill Cemetery by Tyler. Following that the 5K walk/run will start at the Palmer High School Football Field heading out the driveway you will go past the Rose Hill Cemetery. If you would like to stop to see Tyler for a moment going or coming his grave will be lit. We will continue on to the country road where you may possibly hear the wonderful sounds of nature, like the cricket chirping, the birds singing and see the remainder of the beautiful sunset as it goes down. The trail will continue on the country road for a mile where we will turn onto a minimum maintenance road. This road is sure to be windy, rough, scenic with trees and grass. You will continue to the "turn about" on the minimum maintenance road and walk/run back to the country road, up one of our major sandy hills, past the Rose Hill Cemetery and to the finish line at the high school football field. If you are doing the 1 mile walk/run that will start after the last person is on their way for the 5K. The 1 mile trail will follow th same path as the 5K with a half mile turn around before you get to the gravel road finishing at the high school football field. The proceeds from the walk/run will go to provide scholarships to Tyler's nineteen classmates that will graduate in May of 2017. We are very appreciative of your Super Hero Support!!

Open Registration and/or packet pickup Friday, August 19, 2016 from 5-7 PM or Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Palmer High School Football Field Concession Stand.

8 PM Balloon Release at the Rose Hill Cemetery by Tyler

9 PM 5K Walk/Run starting at the Palmer High School Football Field followed by the 1 Mile Walk/Run

Why do we Walk/Run?-Tyler Hook Hillmer was a freshman at PPS. He lost his life in a car accident on August, 23, 2013. He was a happy, positive, easy going guy with a smile you couldn't forget. He loved track, basketball, football, playing video games, loved listening to music and liked hanging out with friends and family. His favoite time of the day was sunset.

The Event-The balloon release will kick the night off at the Rose Hill Cemetery by Tyler (8 PM). Then we will head back to the Palmer High School Football Field to line up for the 5K walk/run (9 PM).The walk/run will be lit by glow markers to keep you on the trail. Please NO PETS. We don't want a situation that they might be scared or hurt someone in a large crowd. Since we will have lots of walk/runners along the trail at one time, please be patient at the start of the walk/run. This event will NOT be officially timed; please enjoy a fun night with friends and family to remember Tyler. If you choose to pass through the cemetery going or coming to spend a moment with Tyler we will have his grave lit. We ask that everyone on the trail, please follow the standard trail etiquette because there will be a "turn about" and we will have walk/runner on both sides of the trail. Those with strollers, please start towards the back or off to the side of the pack and respect all trail etiquette and move to single file when walk/runners approach.

Who can Participate?-Everyone is welcome.

AD,Rob Wegner from the Palmer Public School received an email back from the NSAA as to how our run this fall may affect students. "They said that students can participate with the exception of students that are on the Cross Country Team. If those kids were to participate, they would have to sit out one cross country meet this fall. Other than that any student can participate."

Registration- Registration deadline is Monday, July 25, 2016 to guarentee a t-shirt, glow necklace & bracelet. However, you can register up to Saturday, August 20, 2016 on location. Voluneering-We are looking for volunteers to help before and during the event. Contact Missy Hillmer at 308-940-1421.

NO Refund-We are planning on walk/running even if it rains. The only way the event would be canceled is if there is a major storm or lightening.

Extra Glow Stuff-Friday, August 19 & Saturday, August 20, 2016 you can purchase extra GLOW bracelets, necklaces, and jelly rings. Plus a few extra Perks!!

Parking- There will be FREE parking at the Palmer High School.

Proceeds- From the walk/run will go to privide a scholarship for each of Tyler's nineteen classmates that will graduate in May of 2017.
