The Run for the Ribbons 5k is a race to raise awareness for the five primary gynecologic cancers- cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar. This is the first event of its kind in Mississippi. Proceeds raised will benefit the gynecologic oncology fund, which promotes continuing education and patient services.
On the day of the race, registration will begin at 6:30 AM at the Pavilion on the campus of The University of Mississippi Medical Center. The 5k race will begin at 8:00 AM with awards ceremony immediately after the 5K. An overall male/female winner will be chosen. Also, first and second places in the following age groups will be awarded:
Female: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Male: same as above
Cancellation Policy: The event will take place rain or shine. If cancellation of the event is warranted due to dangerous weather conditions, announcements will be made race day at the race site. The event will not be cancelled in advance. All decision regarding cancellation will be made on site, race day.
Tshirts are guarenteed to participants who are registered by Monday, August 29, 2016. If not registered prior to August 29, 2016, extra tshirts will be given out in the order of registration. Also, if you are a Survivor and do not register prior to August 29, 2016, we can NOT guarentee that you will recieve a "Survivor" shirt.
Participants may pick up their race packet on Friday, September 9 from the Gynecologic Oncology office. Our office is located in the Clinical Science Building on campus at UMC.
