The American Highlander Kilt Run will be held at the Mercer County Park Festival Grounds and is open to participants of all ages. The only requirement is that all participants wear a kilt. The kilt must be a tartan or plaid kilt and must be closed by at least 2 kilt closing straps and buckles per the rules set by the Guinness Book of World Records. The kilt run is a kickoff to Kilt Fest NJ, a celebration of all things Irish, Scottish, Gaelic and Celtic. It includes the NJ Highland Games, a fictional kilted battle between 2 armies, a beer garden serving locally made Celtic craft brews, kilt contests for men, women and children, a chance for children to particpate in their own Highland Games, a Children's area with special Gaelic entertainment, and a concert featuring 7 of the top traditional and Celtic Rock bands in the area. Proceeds from this event will go to Fans for the Cure, the AOH, and Disabled American Veterans. This is a one of a kind event. Don't miss it.
The Kilt Run starts at 9am for competitive runners and 15 minutes later for non-competitive participants who can choose to walk, jog, run or crawl through the course or any portion of it. The run is on both pavement and grass. Please arrive by 8am for check in. Parking is free and will be directed by the US Army. Parking donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go to Disabled American Veterans. Please wear your running kilt to this event.
