Please join us for GRAYSLAKE’S FOURTH ANNUAL DEAD LAST 5K ZOMBIE RUN! An actual 5K race for your life in the midst of mind-boggling, brain-eating ZOMBIES! The object of the race is to win-both by your speed and by getting to the finish line alive! Teen Age ZOMBIES will be present on the course at specified intervals throughout the race course and runners will sport flag belts with two flags per runner at the start of the race. ZOMBIES will attempt to remove the runners’ flags-thus taking their ‘life’.

Runners must complete the race, UNDEAD or ALIVE and will find strategically located extra ‘life flags’ along the course route. The trick will be to dodge the ZOMBIES that might just be killing time near the ‘life flags’! This event is officially timed by RACETIME, Inc. Runners can win by speed alone but the biggest prize goes to the fastest runners coming out ALIVE-with at least one ‘life flag’ left.

Walkers are welcome to come in DEAD LAST and will start the course after the runners and are asked to line up behind them.

This year we are thrilled to announce that interested members of the public will be allowed to participate as ZOMBIES. ZOMBIE participants will be required to attend a ZOMBIE training event prior to the event and will be required to adhere to all DEAD LAST 5K! race policies, procedures, and practices. This is to ensure the safety of and a fun day for all.

ZOMBIES will be assigned to specific zones along the race route and will not run the race course. They will be assigned specific places along the race route to stumble, stagger or chase after the SURVIVORS (runners).

ZOMBIES are dressed to kill-but will be required to stick to the rules of the road and will only be allowed to remove or attempt to remove a SURVIVORS flag as they pass by. NO OTHER CONTACT BETWEEN ZOMBIES AND SURVIVORS ALLOWED. ZOMBIES will be assigned to a ‘zone horde’ and a ‘zone horde leader’ will be present with them during the event to assist and supervise all zone activities.

Once again this year we will be offering a Fun Run/Fun Walk beginning at 10:00 a.m. Teen ZOMBIES will be in plain view along the route but they will be as happy as a ZOMBIE can possibly get for our Fun Runners/ Fun Walkers! Participants of all ages are welcome for this untimed, one-mile event. All participants will receive a race ribbon. Strollers welcome.

Fun Run/Fun Walk Registration: $20 per participant

5K Registration through Wednesday, September 7: $40 per participant

Late Registration (after September 7 through day of race): $45 per participant

Proceeds from the Zombie Run will benefit The Oasis (Grayslake Youth Center). Pre race packet pick up and registration will also be held on Friday, September 9, from 3-8PM at The Oasis, 151 Hawley Street, Grayslake. Registration on race day will open at 9:30 AM at the College of Lake County - Parking Lot " "
