Run. Walk. Taste. Rock. Take the scenic route at the College of DuPage Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K on Saturday, Sept. 17, noon to 8 p.m. at COD’s main campus in Glen Ellyn! Family and friends will thank you for introducing them to this unparalleled west suburban event!

Race time is 5 p.m., but all other festivities will kick off at noon and continue until the party's over! (We're thinking around 8 or 9 p.m. See below for the full schedule and details.)

"All the Cool Kids Are Doing It" 5K Registration Perk

Hey Cool Kids! Yeah, you... If you're registered for the upcoming COD Sunset 5K Run/Walk, then you are automatically deemed "cool."  (Not a "cool kid" yet? Just register for the race to qualify for this perk!)

Use your favorite tactics to recruit three (3) 2016 race registrants at the special rate of $10 each and you will be sent a voucher for a 2017 free race entry.

(Don't forget... Race registration is not required to patronize the food trucks.)

How to redeem:

  1. Convince three (3) people to register online for the 2016 COD Sunset 5K Run/Walk.
  2. They must use discount code "IMCOOLTOO" and reference you when prompted during online registration. (Must sign up under the "General Registration" category. Discount code will only work when a "Cook Kid's" name is also mentioned.)

More details about this registration perk are at the bottom of this page.

New this year:

  • 5K after party with free live music by Tributosaurus as David Bowie If you don't know what this means, you really should!
  • Beer tent
  • A bazillion food trucks
  • Touch-A-Truck (and other free kids activities)
  • Onsite ATMs Money doesn't grow on trees; it comes out of machines.
  • 5 p.m. race start

The exact same this year:

  • Excellent parking
  • Nearby, indoor, and really clean restrooms
  • Touch-A-Truck and other free kids activities
  • CARA and USATF certified 5K Run/Walk (same course as 2015)

All proceeds from this uplifting community event will benefit the COD Fuel Pantry, a sustenance resource on campus for COD students scheduled to open during the Fall 2016 semester.

  • Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female age group winners.
  • $200 Visa gift cards will be awarded to the Top Overall male and female runners and the "Middle of the Pack" winner.
  • $5 registration fee for currently-enrolled COD students (*See below for limitations)
  • All 5K participants are eligible to win a free iPad.
  • $2 COD Food Truck Rally voucher included in each race packet
  • 100-Yard Youth Dash at 4 p.m. (Two age divisions: 4-7 and 8-12)
  • Teams of at least three people can compete for Best Time and "Luck of the Draw". Each winning team member will receive a $50 Whole Foods gift card!

College of DuPage Food Truck Rally

12 to ~8 p.m.

College Rd. Parking Lot 1A

Before or after you run, walk or cheer, make sure to explore the original Food Truck Rally in DuPage County! 12-15 favorite food trucks will present curbside cuisine at its best, including hand-made pierogies, modern Asian street food, savory sandwiches, and Chicago pizza. Save room for a sweet treat, like decadently rich cupcakes and delightful mini donuts.

5K registration is not required to attend the COD Food Truck Rally as long as you promise to do your crunches (and we don't mean the French fries from Toasty Cheese!).

www.cod.edu/rally

Stay for Tributosaurus as David Bowie at the Lakeside Pavilion just outside the McAninch Arts Center! Bring your lawn chairs and dancing shoes because they go on at 6:30 p.m. and are sure to dazzle the eardrums with classic hits such as Heroes, Let's Dance, and Changes.  No additional charge to enjoy the music!

Registration Perk Details:
(Instructions to take advantage of this incredible perk are at the top of this page.)

  • Successful "Cool Kids" will receive a 2017 race voucher within 30 days after 2016 event. Date of next year's event will be decided after January 1, 2017 and we promise you'll be the first to know about it.
  • 2016 registrants who were recruited by a "Cool Kid" and paid the incredibly low $10 rate can also recruit three (3) additional registrants and receive a voucher for a 2017 free race entry.
  • A log of successful "Cool Kids" will be securely maintained at the COD Sunset 5K headquarters.
  • To qualify for the perk, each recruited 2016 registrant must enter a "Cool Kid's" name (someone who is already registered) when prompted during online registration.
  • It is not assumed that all "Cool Kids" know and/or like their recruits.  They may or may not be on a team together, also.  However, it is simple to create or join a team.  Just follow the prompts during online registration.
  • Limited to one free 2017 race entry per "Cool Kid."
  • This registration perk is only available for a limited time.
