Hudson Valley Cerebral Palsy’s commitment to the community has always been to provide individuals who experience disabilities with lasting opportunities and
choices that promote health, independence, inclusion, and an enhanced quality of life. Central to their efforts is the philosophy that all people, regardless of age or ability, want and deserve the same opportunities, and that providing them in an accessible and respectful way is the responsibility of any enlightened community. The Opportunity League was realized to breathe life into these efforts.

The mission of the Opportunity League is to promote health, physical fitness, wellness, independence, and an enhanced quality of life through inclusive fitness programs, including recreation and sports competition for people of all abilities and all ages, in community based, and accessible multi-use parks.

The Opportunity League Parks will be universally designed and community based
to include modified and typical sports fields, age appropriate accessible play,
formal and informal exercise equipment, learning environments, and community
gathering places.

In the hope of building community partnership though outreach, education, and training, The Opportunity League plans to spark cultural change by encouraging community sensitivity to people who experience disabilities. The open promotion of cultural diversity, understanding, and acceptance of individual difference, as well as the encouragement of self-esteem and improved self image will all contribute to an enhanced quality of life for those in our community who face disabilities, as well as offer new levels of understanding and acceptance for those in our community who do not.
