4th Annual St. Luke's Miners Campus Cares for Kids 5K & Family Fun Run/Walk

The St. Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus "Cares for Kids 5K & Family Fun Run/Walk" will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016. This is also a "Get Your Tail on the Trail" approved event designed to encourage communities to get out and get active. The race begins at 9:00 am at the Panther Valley Football Stadium. We anticipate a full crowd of men, women and children participating in this event. What a better way to spend a beautiful fall day!

Your support of this family event not only benefits Community Health but the overall health and well-being of our close-knit community and our leaders of tomorrow.

Our children today shape tomorrow's future. Childhood memories and family foundations are necessary for them to live healthier and happier lifestyles. St. Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus understands the importance of our youth as well as the community and is hosting the 4th Annual "Cares for Kids 5K & Family Fun Run/Walk" to raise awareness and support the efforts of the Community Health Program. St Luke's Hospital - Miners Community Health Program supports the community's families in Carbon and Schuylkill Counties with programs such as: 

• St. Luke's Health Star Vans - Provides dental, vision and health services at school and community locations to help patients - especially children who have difficulty accessing important health services.
  
  
• Literacy initiatives -  The Dr. Seuss Day celebrations reached over 2,000 local students from 9 area schools.
  
  
• Certified Diabetes Education Center- Provides specialized education help to patients and their families with diabetes.
  
  
• Tobacco Cessation Treatment- Helps local residents quit smoking.
  
  
• Community Outreach including Live Your Life - A public campaign to promote healthy living and health tips - a new health tip corresponding activity each month helps people understand how Balance, Energy and Action can lead to better health outcomes for individuals in the community.
  
  
• Registered Nurse Health Navigator Services - For local Community Safety Initiative to promote safe and healthy living.
  
  
• Adopt-a-School Program in Panther Valley - Bringing care to local schools.
  

Event details and schedule

Course:
Begins and ends at the Panther Valley High School Football Stadium. Water stations will be available along the course.

Entry Fee:

Pre-register by September 1, 2016 - $25.00, and receive a commemorative technical T-shirt

• Registration after September 1, 2016 - $25.00 (T-Shirt is not guaranteed)
  
• Kids fun run is free - Waiver must be signed at time of registration (Does not include T-shirt)

Race Day Registration:

• Available at the Panther Valley High Schooll Football Stadium from 8:00 - 8:45 a.m.
• Fee for Race Day Registration is $30.00.
  

Race Information:

• 5K Run and Walk will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
• Runners and walkers will start together with walkers lining up behind the runners.
  
• Kids Fun Run will begin after all walkers have returned, approximately 9:45 a.m.
  
• Post-race snacks and drinks will be available to all paticipants.
  
• Awards ceremony immediately following Kids Fun Run.
  

 Awards and Age Groups: 

• Top male and female overall winners will receive a trophy
• 1st, 2nd and 3rd place mail and female winners in the following categories will receive a medal:
  
• 14 and under
  
• 15-19
• 20-29
  
• 30-39
