This is the 101h Annual Big Bigby Bolt. It is a scenic race running along farmland and a creek in rural Maury County. It is a family friendly race! Note: The 5K and one mile is open to all ages. The one mile is not only for adult fun but is a competitive race geared toward elementary age children. Therefore medals are given to top 10 boy and girl finishers. The 5K medals are broken down by sex and all age groups.
The Bolt is a fundraiser for the Joshua L. Bailey Education Foundation. This is a non-profit foundation who gives academic scholarships to graduating seniors in Maury County Tennessee. The foundation was the idea of Joshua himself. Joshua was a soldier and a colledge student. Joshua valued education so highly, he designated in his will that his military pay be set aside to fund college scholarships. The foundation was established after his untimely death at the young age of 23 adhering to his wishes. Every penny we raise from the race funds students' educatiion. In the last 10 years, we've awarded $145,000 in scholarships.
