Since 1956, the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served the Crofton, Gambrills and surrounding areas providing life saving emergency services. Since our humble beginnings responding to calls with a single engine, the dedicated members of the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department have been a critical part of the community.

On average, our station responds to over 125 fire and rescue emergencies and over 200 medical emergencies every month. With limited financial support from the county, we rely on the generosity of those we serve to maintain our equipment and keep our station running.

Our annual Rescue Run fundraiser is a key part of our efforts to keep the station funded. 2016 is an important year for Station 7 as we welcome a new addition to our company. Engine 71 was constructed in Wisconsin and delivered in April. This Pierce type apparatus has replaced the old engine and will allow us to better protect the community. We are excited about the new engine, but now have an over $500,000 loan to repay.

Event details and schedule

Start/Finish:  Crofton Country Club, 1619 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, Maryland 21114

5K (Actual distance 5.3K) Course: Start at lot between Crofton Country Club and Prince of Peace Church heading north. Continue along the Crofton Parkway to race finish line at start location.

10K Course: Start at lot between Crofton Country Club and Prince of Peach Church heading North on the Crofton Parkway.  Turn right on Eton Way.  Follow Eton Way to right on Crofton Parkway.  Turn right on Harcourt Ave, right on Harwell Ave, left on Harcourt Ave, and right on the Crofton Parkway.  Right on Shaftsbury Ave, left on Swinburne Ave, left on Sturbridge Pl, and right on Crofton Parkway to the finish line.

Directions: 

From DC - Take Route 50 East to Route 3 North.  Go approximately five miles to Crofton entrance on right (Clubhouse Gate Rd) and turn left on Crofton Parkway to Crofton Country Club.

From Balltimore - Take I-97 South to Exit 7 (MD Routes 32 and 3 South).  Go approximately six miles to Crofton entrance on left at light (Crofton Blvd) and right on Crofton Parkway to Crofton Country Club.

Parking: Adjacent parking lot between the Crofton Country Club and the Prince of Peace Church.

Race Day Timeline:

6:30-7:30 a.m. – Check-In

8:00 a.m. – 10k Start

8:05 a.m. –  5k Start

Awards: 

Awards to the top master male, female, and firefighter for each race. 

Age group awards for each race as follows:

14 & Under – 1^st male/female

Top two males/females in the 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 categories

70+ – 1^st Male/female

Amenities: Refreshments and awards, water stops on the course and at start/finish, course monitors, marked course, ample parking, and results distributed shortly after the race.

Race Packet Pick Up: Participants may pick up their race packet the night before the race from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the fire station (2380 Davidsonville Road, Gambrills, MD, 21054) or on race day starting at 6:30 a.m. at the race start location. Participants must show their driver’s license or other identification to pick up race packet. Alternate packe pick up location TBD.

Please Note: We will be the guests of the Crofton Country Club on race day and can’t interfere with the golfers. Clubhouse and Pro Shop facilities are strictly off limits. Warm up on roads/sidewalks. Park only in designated areas. No pets during run. We appreciate your cooperation!
