The Mental Health Associations "Run for the Health of it" Road Race is a 5k or 1 mile fun run that welcomes individuals, families, children, runners, walkers and stroller pushers!

"Run for the Health of it" is part of the Mental Health Association in Essex County, Inc.'s 50th Anniversary. The run will begin and end at Ballard Park in Westport NY, and be followed up with food and music in the park! Run begins at 2pm, please arrive 15 minutes early for registration and bib pick up. Gift bags for the first 50 registrants! Prizes for the top three male and females in each age group.

A bit about our agency:

Mental Health affects every individual and every family. One in four adults are diagnosed with a mental health issue in their life time. Depression and anxiety are becoming more and more common in our hectic and demanding lifestyle. The suicide rates in the North Country are double that of the rest of NY state.

MHA’s mission statement is to encourage, empower and overcome. A focus of the work that we are doing is fiercely related to the sentiment behind those words. We adamantly believe that people with mental health issues can and do recover .Our task is to assist individuals in finding the resources they need in order to overcome the devastating effects of mental illness. They can then move on and live functional lives within their own communities.

Event details and schedule

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early- we run at 2pm!

The course will be from Ballard Park in Westport to our agency at 6096 NYS Rt 9N in Westport, and back.

Please bring signed waiver and ID.

Fruit and water will be provided at the end of the course!
