THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO SPONSORED , SUPPORTED,  AND PARTICIPATED IN OUR 2nd race Blazer Bolt for Brain Cancer! Total participation with Blazer Bolt Homewood and Blazer Bolt Eufaula (599 + 207 respectively was 806 people!)  Funds raised in concert with sister race Blazer Bolt in Eufaula AL exceeded $35,000. 

OCTOBER 22 2016  has been approved for 2016! 

  Blazer Bolt is a 501c3 organization whose annual event is the Blazer Bolt for Brain Cancer. This race was created entirely to support those who are battling brain cancer. All proceeds will directly benefit the University of Alabama Birmingham Division of Neuro Oncology for research of adult and pediatric brain cancer as well as patient support services. Patients, family, and friends will enjoy a flat, fast 5 K course through the scenic Homewood neighborhoods in late autumn starting at 8 AM.  A 1 mile walk/fun run will begin at 9 AM.  Chip timing for instant results will be provided by DG Racing. Overall Male & Female, Master’s Male & Female, and Top Three in each Age Group (every 5 years from age 10 to 75+) will receive awards. Last years awards were  unique hand crafted piece of pottery created by elite marathon runner, Pablo Sierra. In 2015 and 2016, participants enjoyed access to   expertise information and sample a unique recipe created by oncologist and chef, Dr. Luis F. Pineda MD, founder of Cooking with Cancer.   Performance-wear short sleeved T- shirts with sizes selected at the time of registration will be  designed here in Birmingham. Team registration is encouraged.
