Santa's Run for Our Kids
- 10K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles, 10K = 6.2 Miles
- 5K Run:- Run 3.1 Miles
- Kids Fun Run:- Kids Run 1/2 Mile
- This inaugral race takes place in beautiful Winter Haven, Florida. The Winter Haven Optimist Club is sponsoring the event. All prceeds support youth activities Refreshments and various food items will be provided. There will also be a little entertainment for the kids (jump tents, etc. ). Parking is plentiful, but you may have to walk a couple of blocks. Registration and timing will be by Chronotrack and basic administration by the Winter Haven Optimist Club and FitNiche. Race-day packets may be picked up on Thurs eve 4-8 at Winter Haven's Belk Lindsey ( 3rd St. SW ) and Fri evening, 3-5 at Lakeland's FitNiche at Lakeside Village ( South Lakeland ). Awards are presented for Overall, Masters, and are 3 deep for basic age groups,- men and women, and trophies (1st and 2nd) for each of the kids' race ( .5 mi. ), gals and guys. All adults get tech tee shirts, all kids get ribbons.
Course begins at the North end of Central Park ( Ave B NW ) Near the Chamber of Commerce building. Go to the race website, whoptimist5k10k.com, for visual directions. Otherwise, the course procedes around Lake Howard on a brand new running path along the water, then along Lake Cannon and Lake Mirror in the lovely neighborhoods. The finish is at the start.
From the south ( or North ) come along Rt 27 to 542. Go West on 542 and follow it as it winds right into Central Park., Or go West on 544 till it comes to Rt. 17. Turn right and head up to Central Ave. Take another right and you end up in Central Park.
From Lakeland, take Rt 92 to Rt 17, go South till you get to Central Ave. Turn Left on Central and you end up in Central Park.
Folks with GPS, enter Winter Haven Chamber of Commerse and you'll end up at the Start ! That's easy !!
