_ 2016 Believe In Brooke - Beat DIPG 5K Run:
The Blake Family presents the 1st Believe In Brooke - Beat DIPG 5K Road Race to raise awareness and funds towards a cure for young victims of DIPG, an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer.
Brooke Blake, the 8 year old daughter of Matt & Maddie Blake of Ridgefield, CT, was diagnosed in December with a rare form of pediatric cancer called DIPG. Brooke is currently battling to beat the odds by participating in a clinical trial at The Children's Brain Tumor Project at Weill Cornell Brain & Spine Center. The Project conducts research on DIPG, one of the most ruthless of pediatric brain tumors which takes the lives of more than 300 children each year.
This 5K event is being held with the hopes of raising awareness about DIPG. The lack of government funding for pediatric cancers has crippled the survival rate for children with DIPG in the last four decades. DIPG is the deadliest of all childhood cancers, yet the most underfunded. Private funding is virtually the only way cancer research receives financial support for children with DIPG.
Believe In Brooke -Beat DIPG 5K will be donating all tax- deductible net proceeds directly to the Children's Brain Tumor Project at Weill Cornell Medicine Brain and Spine Center in New York.
