Our 3rd Annual Sole Harvest 5K Run/1M Walk benefits the Norristown Hospitality Center.
For over 22 years, the Norristown Hospitality Center has, and continues to be a place of hope and support for so many experiencing homelessness and low income in Montgomery County. Whether they are ill, unemployed, or part of the working poor, the underprivileged can receive many services provided six days a week. All proceeds from the race goes directly to the day-to-day operations of the center.
Each day we have between 85 and 122 people sign in to use services including: crisis intervention, breakfast, hot showers, mail services, addiction counseling, lockers, emergency food baskets and referrals, with the goal helping them to achieve independence.
Below are a few more facts about how we serve the county:
o We are the only ministry in Norristown that provides breakfast 6 days a week. In fiscal year (July 14, 2014-June 15, 2015) we served 20,003 breakfasts and the Shelter was accessed was 26,925 times. Both men and women are served equally (50% each), and most clients are adults from 18-64 years old. The racial/ethnic makeup of clients is 48% African American, 46% Caucasian, 5% Hispanic, and 1% Asian/Pacific Islander.
o We provide social services and addictions counseling free and without an appointment to the community 6 days every week. In a day our staff and volunteers may see about 87 people on average who are seeking shelter or services at the Center. Services include: showers, phone, fax, copies, mail contracts (if they don't have their own address), toiletries and food baskets, lockers, optional devotions, counseling.

This is a rain or shine event which starts promptly at 9am.

10/08/2016 - Day of registration starts at 7:30am - 8:30am
- We will be raffling off great prizes on race day! Please bring cash to purchase raffle tickets
- Amenities: T-shirts will be guaranteed to the rst 130 registrants. Refreshments and plenty of parking will be provided, course maps will be available at the registration table. A time clock at the finish line and instant results are all part of the package. No refunds or mailed awards.
- Location/Registration: Starts across from the Norristown Area High School which is at the 401 N. Whitehall Road entrance of the Farm Park. Park. Please arrive by 8am to pick up your amenities.
- Bring the following items to donate to the center.
On race day, bring toiletries, new packs of man's and women's underwear, breakfast foods, a container of dry milk powder, styrofoam cups (8oz), non-dairy powdered creamer, coffee (ground, regular), or a 5lb bag of sugar to donate. These are items the center provides daily.
