Universal Sole Trail Challenge – October 2016

Trail running has always been in our USOLE DNA! We were the first running store in Chicago to bring trail racing to the Chicago running community. We are thrilled to continue this tradition and offer the 2016 edition of the USOLE Trail Challenge in October, November & December! Just in time to start to enjoy the cooler weather in the Cook County Forest Preserves. Our trail courses run through undulating terrain with rocks, roots & some short hills! You don’t need to be a trail veteran to come out and enjoy these great grass roots events! The USOLE Trail Challenge is great for people of all ages and all abilities looking to change up the running routine and get “off” the roads! Join us!

Event details and schedule

Trail Race Locations:
October 15th, 2016 - The October USOLE Trail Challenge will be an intro race for those folks just getting the feet wet (figure of speech) with trail. This trail run will take place at Bullfrog Lake in the Palos Forest Preserve System. This will be an easy 5k (or so) loop. Come out and try some trail!
November 12th, 2016 – The November USOLE Trail Challenge will be held @ Bull Frog Lake in the Palos Forest Preserve System! The course will be just over 4 miles with all sorts of terrain to welcome you.
December 10th, 2016 – The December USOLE Trail Challenge will be held @ Schiller Woods Forest Preserve up near O’Hare airport! This course and race has been a long standing race since the beginning of Universal Sole! The distance for this race will be just over 5 miles!

Race Details:

• Register for the October Trail Race - Get a custom USOLE Trail Challenge Long-Sleeve cotton T (Great for those cool fall days!)!
• Register for the November Trail Race – Get a custom USOLE Trail Challenge Chili Bowl!
• Register for the December Trail Race – Get a custom USOLE Trail Challenge Pint Glass!
• Register for two of the three and you will get a custom USOLE Church Key Bottle Opener!
• Courses will be trail & off road with crushed limestone, dirt, rocks, & roots.
• Races will begin promptly @ 10am! Race day pickup & registration will begin @ 8:30am
• If you are registering day of the race, the entry is $40 and can be paid by cash or credit card only.
• Water and NUUN Hydration Drink at the Start/finish line.
• Clif Bars & Bananas will be at the finish.
• Will’s Famous Chili along with a brew will be given to all runners after the November & December trail races only! Brews will be served after all three races!
• Race day gear check will be at the Universal Sole Tents
• Parking Info: Plenty of parking in the forest preserve parking lots!

• Post race raffle with great prizes from Universal Sole & all of our sponsors to be held at our post race party on-site!

Packet Pick-up: Packet pick-up will be available on race day. Pre-race packet pick-up will be held at Universal Sole in Chicago (3052 N. Lincoln Ave.) at the following times: 
October
-Thursday, October 13th from 12pm-8pm
-Friday, October 14th from 12pm-7pm
November
-Thursday, November 10th from 12pm-8pm
-Friday, November 11th from 12pm-7pm
December
-Thursday, December 8th from 12pm-8pm
-Friday, December 9th from 12pm-7pm

Post Race Chili & Brews: Once the races are over, brews for everyone! Will Bridge will be out serving up his famous WILL’s Chili (November & December races only get Chili) along with fine post run brews! If the weather permits, it can be nice to hang out in the forest preserve and enjoy nature! This is fall/winter, time to celebrate the trails and getting “off” the roads!
