We are paying tribute to our friend and fellow firefighter Jon Schondelmayer who spent 20 years working his way through almost every station before passing in December of 2013 in a line of duty-related death. In it's first year this grassroots event was open to only 75 runners from the Fire Department community but this year its open to the public!
Proceeds from this year's race will also go to help support Children's Flight of Hope.
The event has FIVE race options:
Both the full and half-marathon runners will get to join the Cary Fire Department in their tradition of "going the extra mile."
Relay team member don't need to sign up together all at once. They can sign up individually so long as they select the team name the first person who signed up created (first person pays the registration fee too!). We believe that he who pays gets to pick the team name!
The course winds through greenways and streets alike. The course not only visits almost every Cary fire station you'll also get to actually run through several of the fire station truck bays. All fire stations will act as both rest and accountability stops.
