The 24th annual New England Half Marathon takes place on a scenic, point-to-point course during the peak of autumn. It starts on the west end of Cherry Woods State Park and, after two loops, proceeds directly south to the beautiful Willow Hills. There are two major hills and a few curves as the course follows the Windwing river downstream on Highway 54. You finish the last half mile running past an apple orchard with a live band motivating you to cross the finish line. The event also includes a pre-race pasta dinner, top-notch expo, and post-race festival complete with live music and a pumpkin-carving contest. And it’s a Boston Qualifier, for those of you who are competitive.
The New England Marathon is one of the nation’s top races. The 2013 sold out, and this year there is a 5,000-participant limit, so register early to ensure a spot.
