Description
The 8th annual Black Saturday 5K takes place on a scenic, campus-wide course during early autumn. It starts at Holmes Convocation Center, strolling you through the beautiful Appalachian State University campus. There are two major hills (Stdium Drive and Locust Street) and a few curves as the course leads your through the breathtaking fall leaves. You finish the 5K in Durham Park, a grassy mall with a river running through it.
Additionally, each participant is eligible to win a door prizes from a local business, enjoy fresh fruit, bake goods, etc. and sport his/her Black Saturday 5K T-shirt at the ASU football game, as the Mountaineers deflate the Panters of Georgia State University.

Category awards will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers per the following categories: High School, College Freshman, College Sophomore, College Junior, College Senior, Graduate Student, Alumni, Faculty/Staff, and Community.
