Description

The 19th Annual Rattlesnake Master Run for the Prairie includes a 10K and 5K run and 5K walk.  This race circles the beautiful 130-acre Meadowbrook Park and prairie in Urbana, Illinois.  The proceeds benefit Grand Prairie Friends, a non-profit organization committed to preserving and restoring tallgrass prairie and woodlands in east-central Illinois.  Post-race activities include food, awards by age, race, and gender category, and door prizes.  This 250-300 person race is one of the last runs of the season at a beautiful time of year.  Family and youth are very welcome.

Event details and schedule

Location: The race begins on Race St. near Clark-Lindsey Village (just south of Windsor Rd) and ends at the Garden Pavilion in Meadowbrook Park, Urbana, IL

Parking:  Paved parking lot by Garden Pavilion, on east side of Race St. just South of Windsor.   Grassy parking lot on the west side of Race St. immediately South of Windsor.  Please do not park in Clark-Lindsey Village parking lot.

Race Start Time:  Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 9:00am (remember the time change on Saturday night)

Course Informaton: The 5K race circles Meadowbrook Park.  The 10K race circles Meadowbrook Park and adjacent areas.  All races end in a trail run.  Course map available at: http://www.grandprairiefriends.org

Packet Pickup: Race packets available noon-5pm on Saturday, November 5 at Body n' Sole, 1317 Dunlap Ave, Savoy, IL (217-356-8926).  Packets also available at Garden Pavilion on race day from 8:00am-8:45am.

Race Day Registration: Race day entries accepted from 8-8:45am.  Registration located at the Garden Pavilion in Meadowbrook Park.

Post Race Activities: The awards presentation and numerous door prize drawings are held at the Garden Pavilion.  Food and beverage free to participants.

Award Categories: Custom ceramic awards are presented to the top three male and female participants in each race and age category.  Walk awards are co-ed.

5K/10K Runs: Ages 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over

5K Walk: Ages 0-35, 36-49, 50 & over

Regulations: No dogs, strollers, or hiking poles.  No refunds. You must be present to win door prizes.

T-Shirts: T-shirts are available for entrants who register before midnight, Friday, October 28.
