- SIGHT (Students Improving Global Health Together) is a Baylor student organization dedicated to the pursuit of educating, equipping, and empowering our members and the community to impact public health for the better. We are partnering with Parental Care Ministries, an organization that works in Uganda to house over 1,500 orphans and provide them with schooling, access to water, and food. PCM has also reached over 50 rural Ugandan pastors and equipped them with the resources to minister to local people. “Carry a Jerry” was inspired by the jerry cans that many people of Uganda and other African countries use to gather and carry water miles from their villages. To raise awareness and educate people about how difficult it is to obtain water in Uganda, runners have the option to carry a jerry can during the race. SIGHT’s goal is to educate the Waco community and the Baylor student body about the water crisis, global health issues, and especially children who have been orphaned by disease and poverty in Uganda. The Carry a Jerry 10k and 5k will be a time to celebrate God’s abundant love for these orphans and to raise money for Parental Care Ministries and all of the amazing work that they do for these children.
