Families Helping Families Region 7 is a local 501 c3 family directed resource center for individuals with disabilities and their families. We serve the parishes of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, Desoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster.

Our mission is to provide information, referral, and peer to peer support to individuals with disabilities or special needs and their families. We are a group of families who, through our own experiences, promote peer support and advocacy and are committed to alleviating hardships of other families who have members with disabilities or special needs.

Caring for individuals with a disability takes a wealth of support, knowledge and information, and connecting with others who have similar experiences gives families first-hand information and encouragement. We are passionate about providing activities that promote inclusive participation within the community. In order to host such an event we need the support of our community. Together we are changing lives and building a stronger community for all.

Date & Starting Time: Saturday, November 12, 2016. The 5k race will begin at 9:00am.

Champions of Hope Fun Run starts at 10:00 a.m.

Champions of Hope Fun Run: Registration is FREE and you will receive an Official Dash for disABILITIES t-shirt and the Top 5 male and female finishers will get a medal. All participants will be awarded participation awards.

Only those who have disabilities and/or special needs are allowed to participate in the Fun Run!

Location: Red River District under the Texas Street Bridge on Commerce Street, Shreveport.

Online Registration: Early Registration is $25.00 through Saturday, October 8th

$30.00 until 7:00 a.m. November 11th

Race day Registration is $35.00.

There is a $50.00 registration fee for a team which includes one registration package. Remaining team members will be charged a registration fee of $20.00. Must have a minimum of ten people to register a team.

Phantom Runner: Feel like sleeping late, but you still want the race t-shirt? Be a PHANTOM RUNNER.

REGISTER EARLY! No shirts guaranteed to late registrants.

• T-shirts & Race Packet Pick-Up: Every pre-registered participant will receive an original “Dash for disABILITIES” t-shirt. Packet pick up will be held at Sportspectrum Thursday, November 10th from 12pm-7pm and Friday, November 11th from 10am-5:30pm. You may also pick up your packet on Race Day at the Race Site at 8:00am.

• Awards: Top three overall male & female finishers for each age group will receive 1st, 2nd, and, 3rd place medals.
• Top two overall male & female finishers in the Fun Run will receive, 1st and 2nd place medals.
• Top three overall teams will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team awards.

• Age Groups: 8 -13, 14 –18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+

• Post Party: Water, fruit, Food and Health Expo, awards, music, items for purchase, and more.

• Special Note: Strollers, wheelchairs, wagons, baby joggers, and any hand pushed or pulled vehicle will be allowed on the course, but at a walk pace capacity only.
