Description

 - The 34th annual Newport-Mesa Spirit Run will take on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Fashion Island, Newport Beach. With 12 road racing events, a Family Walk, and a Toddler Trot, Spirit Run has something for every age, from toddlers to grandparents. In between the walking and racing events, participants and spectators enjoy a Youth & Fitness Expo with a delicious pancake breakfast, other food and beverages, live music, massage and shopping for adults, youth activities, health and fitness information, and more.

Adult races include the Adult 5k, 10k, 15k (5k + 10k, times combined and ranked), Elite Mile, Sub Elite Mile, Dog Mile, and Open Mile. (Qualifying standards apply for Elite and Sub Elite Miles.)

Youth races include the Youth 5k (high school and younger), six 1/4 - 1-mile races for ages 4 - 19, and Toddler Trot.

Spirit Run allows you to double or triple your fun by offering you the opportunity to race multiple races and to be eligible to win medals and prizes in each one. Spirit Run awards a cash prize purse in the Elite and Sub Elite Miles, and a year's worth of pizza and gift cards for a "burger and brew" in the Adult 5k, 10k, and Open Mile, and certificates for massage in the Elite and Sub Elite Mile and the 15k.

The net proceeds of this long standing community event benefit education and athletics in the Newport - Mesa Unified School District.

Course Info

The elite, sub elite, and dog mile courses are very fast. They proceed point to point, primarily on a decline.

The Open Mile and Youth 1/4 to 1 Mile courses are out and back courses that finish on a decline.
