Project ECHO's Thanksgiving Day 5K - Turkey Trot 2016
For the 5th year in a row we invite you to join us for a brisk morning Thanksgiving Day 5K in support of a great cause, Project ECHO's mission to help the homeless.
Some will run and some will walk. Some bring their families, some come alone and some run in teams. Some participants are travelers on holiday, most live locally, and some are of no fixed address. Some wear athletic gear, some wear costumes and some wear both. However and wherever we come from, we do it because we believe in Project ECHO, we do it because it's a ton of fun and truth be told, some of us do it for the guilt-free pleasure of multiple Thanksgiving dinners. (No judgements here!)
For added fun we invite you to turn it up a notch with Thanksgiving Day costumes. We want to see Turkeys, Pilgrims, Native American Indians, maybe even a few pumpkins running down the street. There will be a prize for best costume so be creative and show us how you strut your stuffing!
In addition to being meaningful and fun, this is a timed race with awards in each age group. We encourage everyone to register early and take advantage of the pre-registration perks. REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and greatly appreciated. You may pre-register online, in person, over the phone or with a mail-in form.
Those of you who pre-register will be able to pick up your bibs and shirts at Project ECHO (*note* Separate location from event) on November 22nd and 23rd from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Pre-registering keeps you out of the 6 am same day registration line, saves you $5 per person and enables all of us to be better prepared for the race. Pre-registration closes at 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 20th. *Please note* pre-registration is available through November 20th for your convenience BUT to ensure that you receive a race day shirt we recommend you register no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 6th.
Same day registration will open at 6am, one hour before the race start time. Registration will be located inside The Arc through the main lobby. On site pre-registration pick up will be located in the tent outside of The Arc main lobby entrance.
Race Day:
Participant parking is available at the shopping center on West Dares Beach Rd. across from The Arc.
The race will begin at 7:00 am for runners and 7:15 for all walkers and strollers.
A brief warm up will take place in the parking lot before the race begins.
Preliminary race results and awards ceremony immediately following race.
Complete race results will be posted online at www.projectECHO.net as soon as they are available.
Complimentary light refreshments will be available before and after the race.
Long sleeve race shirts will be available for purchase before and after the race.
